REPTILES AND AMPHIBIANS OF SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND
BY MIKE DONOVAN
The book will be available in hardback B5 JIS format, professionally printed and bound or as an E Book.
We are also hoping to also supply it as an interactive computer programme including features such as a frog call button to enable identification of frogs by listening to the mating calls of the males whilst viewing their details and photographs.
All of these projects are still in the planning stages although the E Book should be available in the next few months all going well.
The book will contains over 500 pages with well over 500 images of the 207 species of reptiles and amphibians which can be found within the South East Queensland region and it’s immediate surrounds, including marine turtles and snakes.
Each species or in some cases genera are represented by a text relating to identification, behaviour, preferred habitat and range, conservation status and some personal observations. Following or built into the text an image depicting a “normal” or standard colour variation of the animal is included followed by images of as many different colour or pattern variations that I have been fortunate enough to photograph within the region.
A species list and a series of very basic keys are provided for each sub order or group of animals which will hopefully aid in the identification process.
This publication is a culmination of many years of wonderful experiences shared with like minded friends and family and all of these magnificent creatures as well as many others.
I had always hoped that one day I might be able to make a positive difference however small to the welfare of wildlife and wildlife habitat but I never really understood how I could achieve this until now!
